I PICKED NIKI G BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT IS THE CLOSEST WAY TO HAVE A PERSONAL TRAINER WITHOUT THE HEFTY PRICE. I ALSO LOVE THE FACT THAT NO DAY IS THE SAME!!!

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s?

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A WORKOUT JUNKIE BUT AFTER GETTING MARRIED AND RELOCATING TO TN, I LOST MY DRIVE FOR EXERCISE. AFTER HAVING MY DAUGHTER I BECAME LESS CONSISTENT UNTIL I REACHED A POINT WHERE I WAS NOT EXERCISING AT ALL.

How has Niki G’s Fitness Boot Camp helped you the most?

NIKI G FITNESS HAS HELPED ME IN A NUMBER OF WAYS. 1.) IT HAS HELPED ME REMEMBER THAT GOOD “AFTER WORKOUT” FEELING THAT NOTHING BEATS! 2.) THE FACT THAT NO DAY IS THE SAME MOTIVATES ME TO KEEP GOING. 3.) THE MONTHS THAT I HAVE STAYED SUPER CONSISTENT I HAVE NOTICED TREMENDOUS PHYSICAL STRENGTH! AND 4.) MY MOOD IS BETTER AND STEADIER THROUGHOUT THE WEEK IF I KEEP UP THE ATTENDANCE (AND AS AN OLDER CHIC, WHO MAY BE ENTERING THE PERI-MENOPAUSAL YEARS – IT’S A GOOD THING FOR ALL THOSE AROUND ME!)

MY CURRENT FITNESS GOALS ARE TO FIGHT OFF NEGATIVE FEELINGS, GAIN PHYSICAL STRENGTH, TONE UP, AND MAINTAIN AGILITY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class?

MY MOTIVATION FOR GETTING TO CLASS IS NOT LOSING THE STRENGTH & AGILITY I AM WORKING SO HARD TO GET BACK AND I WANT MY DAUGHTER TO KNOW HOW IMPORTANT EXERCISE IS.

WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THIS? THERE IS NO FAVORITE – IT ALL HURTS!! ALL KIDDING ASIDE, MY FAVORITE (ALTHOUGH I’VE GOTTEN WEAK OVER THE YEARS IN THIS AREA) IS LEG DAY. FAVORITE EXERCISES ARE ROMANIAN DEADLIFTS, REGULAR DEADLIFTS, LUNGES, TABLETOP LIFTS.

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?

MORNINGS USUALLY ARE THE BEST – SO GLAD YOU OFFER CLASSES AS EARLY AS 5. MOST PEOPLE THINK IT’S CRAZY TO EXERCISE AT THAT TIME – AND IT REALLY IS (ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER), BUT YOU GET IT OUT OF THE WAY AND THE REST OF THE DAY IS WORK AND FAMILY. THE ONLY THING THAT HELPS ME KEEP EXERCISE A PRIORITY IS THAT I AM GETTING OLDER NOW AND IT’S VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME NOT TO LOSE MY AGILITY AND STRENGTH. I WISH PEOPLE WOULD REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS, NOT ONLY AS A PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTE BUT MENTAL AS WELL.

Why did you pick Niki G’s Fitness Classes as your workout? 

A friend of mine, Ashley Saggio,  asked me to join Niki G’s with her.  Without hesitation, I immediately said yes; that was, until I watched the videos on Facebook and became intimidated.  I even practiced the weekend before with my sister and brother in law, who are in the police force. They showed me how do a push-up correctly and I was not successful! I was completely out of shape and had not exercised consistently in 6 years.   On May 31, 2011, I attended my first Niki G’s class, at 5:15 AM.  It has forever changed my perspective on exercise and initiated my journey of my weight loss.

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s?

I have struggled with my weight my entire life. Since I was a child, I have always been a larger girl; in reality, I have always been larger than my family and friends. In college, I decided to do the Atkins diet and lost 60 lbs and kept it off for a year or so. I have done every diet known to man. Growing up, I can remember my mom always trying to help me with my weight problems, even visiting a “diet doctor”. I have had my successes but obviously none have been a lifestyle change or I would not be where I am today. I am more than ready to take on the challenge of having a healthier lifestyle the healthy way.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about quitting or giving up on their exercise program?

I would remind them how good they feel after the workout; remind them of the results and of my motto…No Payne, No Gain!  Also, I would encourage them to never give up because change is possible.

Why is Niki G’s Boot Camp the best choice for you? Whitney challenges me the way I need to be challenged and truly believes in me!  Without her I would not be completing my 8th month of boot camp.

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class?

The first few months, it was my friend Lindsey.  She would be in my driveway at 5:00am to pick me up, no excuse for me to not get up!  If it weren’t for her pushing me I would have stopped after the first month then somehow I became slightly addicted!  Now it is the RESULTS. I measure myself at the beginning of each month and have not been let down yet!  I’ll be the first to admit that Niki G’s has not be easy ; however, it’s the continuous support from family and friends, dedication, my trainer Whitney, and results that have inspired me to sign up each month.

What’s your favorite Niki G Workout/Exercises/Class Format?

Partner week, especially when I am paired with Whitney.  It keeps me accountable!

What’s your favorite healthy snack? Cocoa almonds or Sliced peppers with hummus.

What’s your favorite treat food? Mojito and pizza

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?

I schedule my classes in advance and make it a priority to be there.  Also, I keep seeing results from month to month which is a huge motivator and I feel so good!

That I can push myself more than I ever thought I could.

Why did you pick Niki G’s Fitness Classes as your workout? I picked Niki G’s because of an article my friend Lauren Fulton did for Her magazine.

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s?

I always was a member of the YMCA and would do cardio and sculpt classes.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about quitting?

I would tell someone to stick with it and give it a chance.  It really does make me feel stronger.

Why is Niki G’s Boot Camp the best choice for you?

Niki G’s is the best option for me because I love doing something different every time I go and I love the people in the classes and Whitney is a great motivator.

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class?

My motivation is the feeling of strength.  I have never had that before and it really helps with my self-esteem.

What’s your favorite Niki G Workout/Exercises/Class Format? 

My favorite workout would be the days we do legs, because I feel that is my strongest attribute but core is great because it is such a challenge for me.

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

My favorite healthy snack is greek yogurt with some Kashi cereal in it.

My favorite treat food would be french fries or ice cream.

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?

Working out is easy for me because I do not have to worry about a husband and kids.  I am inspired by all the women that have such much going on in their lives and they still get to class.  Being skinny was always a priority for me but now I think being strong is much more important. I believe that Niki G’s has helped me realize this and I am so thankful for it.  I am a healthier person mentally and physically because of bootcamp!

I chose Niki G’s programs because personal trainers were too expensive and I was not utilizing my gym membership as much as I should.

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s?

I was unable to run a mile without being winded and my time was around 10 minutes.  I ran a 8:17 this morning!

 What would you say to someone who is thinking about quitting?

I would say that I have stopped before and the support that you receive from other members as well as your trainers is overwhelming. It is comforting to form relationships with other women who share similiar fitness goals.  The motivation that it instills is something you cannot re-create on your own.   I came back after a few months of trying it on my own and I am so glad I did!

Why is Niki G’s Boot Camp the best choice for you? 

I have found working out with a group of women is much more rewarding than just alone.  I get to witness other people reaching their fitness goals and we all encourage one another.

Whitney, my instructor! If I don’t show up, she will text me to get out of bed..:)

Why did you pick Niki G’s Fitness Classes as your workout? I had tried out another boot camp and Nashville and did not enjoy it. Then, I saw the Style Blue Print ad and decided to purchase. After the first month, I ran a half marathon and felt in great shape so decided to continue working out.

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s?

The year before Niki G’s I ran my first half marathon without training like I needed to. Other than that, I hadn’t really done much since high school.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about quitting?

I took some time off because of a family situation. I’m still trying to get back into the swing of things, and it’s incredibly tough. When working out consecutively, I noticed I was much healthier and happier. Although it’s tough to always get in a work out, I have actually seen a decrease in my stress level each day I go to boot camp.

Why is Niki G’s Boot Camp the best choice for you?

I love that it is all women that are after similar goals. I also really appreciate that each day is a different work out. I have never had the same workout twice. The small class sizes are incredible as well since the trainer can focus on you.

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class?

Kristin definitely motivates me and the scheduler. Knowing I have made a commitment to the class, the other women, and to myself keeps me motivated to attend.

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?

By going in the morning, I get my exercise completed which helps make my day less stressful as well as wakes me up! Since joining boot camp, I don’t have to rely on coffee every day to start my day. Instead, I get a natural boost of energy.

It’s all in your mind. If you tell your mind you’re capable, you can do anything.

Which locations and primary time do you attend?  Lenox Village- 5:15 a.m. boot camp and 7:15 p.m. yoga during the week, and Saturday morning.

 

Why did you pick Niki G’s Fitness Classes as your workout?   The gym is SO BORING and I have never felt that way about boot camp in that past year and a half!  I am challenged every day and love it.

 

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s?  Fitness has always been a priority but eating healthy and knowing how I should eat to lose & maintain, that’s always been a road block.  My weight has fluctuated since I was in college.  Six months before I came to Niki G’s, I gave myself a “food makeover.”  I was determined to eat healthy and solve the mystery of how my body responds best to timing of meals, snacks, etc.  I dropped over 20 pounds, three sizes and that was the catalyst for changing up my workout routine.  I started boot camp and training for a half marathon…the rest is history.

 

What would you say to someone who is thinking about quitting?  Do not give up!  Seriously, change does not happen overnight and it doesn’t come in a magic pill.  If you stick with it and open your eyes to what it takes to change YOU/YOUR BODY, I promise you’ll have no regrets.  Patience is the key.

 

Why is Niki G’s Boot Camp the best choice for you?  The variety in the workouts that prevents the body from adapting and the bonds that I have formed with my fellow boot-campers!  I have developed great friendships that I will cherish for life.  And it doesn’t hurt that I only have to walk down one street to get thereJ

 

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class?  Only I can be accountable for my actions.  I know how good I feel afterwards and I want to continue to fit in my skinny clothes!!!

 

What’s your favorite Niki G Workout/Exercises/Class Format?  I think it’s safe to say I love to hate them all!  My favorite has to be the stairs at Lenox Village….brutal!

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?  Exercise has been a habit and a very important part of my life for several years.  I try not to let anything get in the way!  For example, I started a new job in August that not only has me commuting downtown but also has me working later.  It became impossible for me to get to 6 p.m. boot camp so I had to suck it up, wake up before dawn and get my workout in before heading into the office.  I am NOT a morning person but was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly I acclimated to the schedule change and I didn’t bite anyone’s head off in the process!

 

What’s the most important piece of information you have learn from Niki G’s?  I have learned that no matter how much I hurt (sore muscles, injuries, bad knee, running into furniture), I am motivated and want to keep pushing myself further.  At the same time I have learned to be humble and know my limitations (so I can prevent injuries.)  All I need to do is listen to Whitney’s voice in my head saying “yes you can!”

I live in Lenox village and I would always see the girls working out, it seemed like although it was tough, they were having a good time.  I needed to start something fresh & it seemed like a good place to start.

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s?

Before I joined Niki G’s I had just had my daughter.  While I was on maternity leave, I was able to do some light workouts at home along with walking the neighborhood, but once I started back to work I fell into a sedentary routine.  I needed something consistent and someone to push and motivate me.  I needed back in shape, I wasn’t happy with my weight and I was constantly tired.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about quitting?

How could you quit?  Why would you quit?  Its been such a great & fun change for me that I can’t imagine not being part of Niki G’s.  There is no way you can push yourself to the degree that Whitney will push you.

Why is Niki G’s Boot Camp the best choice for you?

Its been the best for me because its convenient both in time & location since I live in Lenox Village.

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class?

I walk to & from class each time.  I really view that walk & class as time for me.  A chance to decomress & focus on myself because I give so much of myself to my family and my busy toddler, I really need “me” time.

What’s your favorite Niki G Workout/Exercises/Class Format?

This may sound insane, but I love the stairwell class on a hot summer day because I know that I’m literally sweating fat off.  As hard as it is in there, when its over you feel so good, and lighter.

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?

I make it a priority.  At the beginning of the month I write each class on our family calendar that hangs on our fridge.  Not only do I see it, but my husband knows as well so there is no confusion as to which nights I workout.  He knows not to tempt me with other plans and that he is responsible for dinner and putting our daughter to bed.

What’s the most important piece of information you have learn from Niki G and/or your trainer?

That it doesn’t matter how many times you quit, its how many times you start back.  This was especially true for me in the beginning, I was so out of shape that I didn’t have the endurance to do the whole set start to finish & it was really frustrating.  But you have to keep trying, don’t give up.

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s? I was not very active at all, other than taking my dog for walks. As an accountant, I sit at a desk all day and am not able to get the exercise I need during the day.  I knew I had to start taking better c

are of myself at a younger age, so when I saw a Groupon for Niki G’s, I decided to give it a shot!  I have now been going to the yoga classes for 6 months now.

How has Niki G’s Fitness Boot Camp helped you the most? I feel a lot more confident in myself!  I feel so much stronger, especially in my arms.  Not only do I physically feel better, but I think the yoga classes have also helped me mentally.  I am able to take time for myself during the week and not worry about the other things in life!

What are your current fitness goals? Eventually, I would like to be able to run really well and possibly train for a 5k.

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class? My husband has told me I look more toned and fit since I have started doing yoga, so I never want to miss a class!

What’s your favorite Boot Camp exercise, drill or class format? I like trying the more challenging yoga poses (like half-moon, standing splits, one-armed down dog) and seeing how I have improved the past few months.

What’s your favorite healthy snack? I love having apple slices with a low-fat fruit dip.

What’s your favorite treat food? I love Twix and Milky Ways, which is hard to turn down especially during this time of the year!

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?  I think of taking time to exercise as a committment I made to myself.  It is one of the best things you can ever do for yourself and also your family.  If you feel good physically and mentally, you will want to do more things with your family and you set a good example for them.  If there is ever a time I don’t feel like going to class, I always think about how much better I will feel afterwards and I’m never wrong!

What’s the most important piece of information you have learn from Niki G and/or your trainer? Just how important eating clean and working out is.  I dont think I had ever fully realized the importance of taking care of yourself till I started the classes.

What is your favorite Instructor Quote during class (the funnier the better) “A squat without a squeeze at the top is only half a squat!”  But on a more serious note…I really appreciate how Whitney will say, “Everyone is here for different reasons.”  Now I know that no matter what my abilities are, I can workout with a good group of girls that don’t judge me because we are all working together towards our own fitness goals!

Why did you pick Niki G’s Fitness Classes as your workout?

I really hadn’t worked out since high school on a consistent basis and frequently complained about being out of shape but never did anything about it.  Eventually I heard about Niki G’s bootcamp and started looking into it but wasn’t sure I wanted to make the commitment and go through the pain of getting into shape.  I knew that I needed someone who would hold me accountable though, so one Sunday evening I hit the “submit” button on the computer and signed up for a 5:15 a.m. class the very next morning.  I was scared to death and I remember thinking “what on earth have I done and everyone here must be nuts.”  It’s without a doubt one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s? 

I wasn’t overweight but I was utterly and completely out of shape.

My dream was to be able to walk out my front door and go run a mile with my dogs. I can do that now!

How has Niki G’s Fitness Boot Camp helped you the most? 

It has helped me feel more confident about my body again which is invaluable.  I also feel stronger.  I remember thinking “I am so out of shape that if someone tried to kidnap me I couldn’t outrun them!” As weird as that sounds that was one reason why I wanted to get into shape!

What are your current fitness goals?

My current fitness goals are just to maintain my fitness level.  Over the past couple of years I have gotten into good shape because of Niki G’s Fitness Boot Camp.  My lungs feel good when I run, and my heart doesn’t feel like it’s going to jump out of my chest anymore; however, it’s still very challenging or I wouldn’t continue to do it.  I always leave bootcamp feeling like I worked hard.

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class? 

Seeing Alisa and the other girls is my motivation.  They are all an inspiration to me and they are so much fun to be around.  There is no judgment.  Everyone supports each other.

What’s your favorite Boot Camp exercise, drill or class format?

I love partner work or team oriented exercises.

Describe Your Typical Weekly Workout Schedule 

Currently I go to bootcamp 3 days during the week and try to work out one day on my own which usually involves walking or running in my neighborhood.

Describe a typical day of eating –

During the day is the easiest because I pack a healthy lunch and I’m held captive by those foods because that’s all I have to eat.  The difficult part is dinner because I come home from working all day and bootcamp, and I don’t feel like cooking.  This is a big area of opportunity that I’m working on.  The key is planning things out beforehand.  Otherwise, I’ll pick up something easy (and unhealthy) or just eat cereal because I don’t feel like cooking.  Lately my husband has been grilling the entrée while I’m on my way home and then I’ll whip up the sides.

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

I can’t decide between bread, pizza, or chocolate.  I like all of the stuff that’s bad for me.

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?

 

What’s the most important piece of information you have learned from Niki G and/or your trainer? 

I have learned that working out can be fun when it’s done in a fun environment.  I am very thankful for all of the instructors.  They are all very caring and good at what they do.

Why did you pick Niki G’s Fitness Classes as your workout?

My sister and I purchased a Groupon for the Cool Springs location.  I figured once the month was over,  I would move on to something else. It has now been 8 months.   

What was your health/wellness/fitness situation before coming to Niki G’s?

I could barely run or  do a  push-up. I have now completed two 5k runs and working on my 3rd. I can now do 15 boy pushups without stopping.   

How has Niki G’s Fitness Boot Camp helped you the most?

I have more endurance and mental clarity.

What are your current fitness goals?

What is your inspiration/motivation to get to class?

When my husband comments on how toned my arms have gotten and wearing a size 8 again!

What’s your favorite Boot Camp exercise, drill or class format?  

Favorite(does this exist)???  If I had to choose, it would be the partner drills

I usually come to the 5:15 class 2-3 times a week

Describe a typical day of eating:

I’ve learned to  eat well and watch my portions. The nutrition class taught me to keep a food journal and stay away from processed foods. It is amazing what you can learn from reading food labels.  

What’s your favorite healthy snack?

Apples with Natural peanut butter.

What’s your favorite treat food?

anything Mexican!

How do you find the time to exercise and keep it a priority?

It’s a struggle with two little ones and my husband working 12 hr shifts. So it’s a constant balancing act but I’m a better mom/wife when I exercise.

What’s the most important piece of information you have learn from Niki G and/or your trainer? Whitney holds you accountable & always pushes us to the next level. We are constantly encouraging each other during our morning workouts. It is a team effort!

What is your favorite Instructor Quote during class (the funnier the better)

Whitney can be perky in the morning & always says, just imagine how sexy your calves will look in high heels. I’m thinking …heels, I will not be able to walk after this!
